Job Title: Heat Treat Maintenance Technician

Location: Kendallville, Indiana
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $27.50 - $ 35.00 hr. (Based on experience)

 

About Us

We are an established Heat-Treating company looking for a skilled Heat Treat Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will keep our thermal processing and metallurgical equipment running safely and efficiently. You will perform hands-on repairs, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, and complete routine care to prevent costly downtime.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot & Repair: Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and control problems on gas and electric heat-treat furnaces, ovens, quench tanks, and cooling systems.
• Preventive Maintenance (PM): Conduct scheduled maintenance tasks like lubricating parts, replacing worn components, cleaning systems, and checking thermocouples.
• System Upkeep: Maintain and repair pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, and pneumatic/hydraulic lines.
• Welding & Fabrication: Perform basic welding, brazing, and metal fabrication to modify or fix equipment tooling.
• Documentation: Keep clear records of completed PMs, safety checks, and repair work orders.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all plant safety rules, including proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience, ideally working around heat treat furnaces, heavy manufacturing equipment, or high-temperature systems. Electrical / wiring knowledge & experience a plus.
• Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, 3-phase electrical troubleshooting, and reading schematics or blueprints.
• Education: High school diploma or GED; technical certification or degree in Industrial Maintenance is a strong plus.
• Physical Ability: Able to lift heavy parts, climb ladders, use hand/power tools, and work in a warm industrial environment.
