Hospice C.N.A.-Contingent-PRN

Job Overview St. Mary's Home Care & Hospice is seeking a contingent Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A.) for hospice services in the Athens, GA area on a PRN basis. The role provides one‑to‑one compassionate care in clients' homes. Position Purpose Our hospice/home health aides provide paraprofessional services to patients in their homes, following physician orders and in compliance with the state’s Nurse Practice Act, licensure/certification requirements and our policies and procedures. Responsibilities Follow the care plan developed by the RN. Report client changes in condition to the RN as described on the care plan. Assist clients with personal care activities including bathing, mouth care, denture care, skin care, grooming, bathroom privileges, transferring, ambulation, and dressing and undressing. Assist clients with household tasks such as planning and preparing meals, feeding, light housekeeping, changing linens, making beds, and laundering clothes and bedding. Measure and record clients’ oral, rectal and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure as ordered. Perform range of motion and other simple procedures as an extension of therapy services as assigned. Assist clients in self‑administration of medication. This procedure must be assigned by an RN and documented in the clinical record. The Home Health / Hospice Aide shall not administer medication of any kind. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Completion of a 75‑hour CNA course. Completion of a federally compliant training program as required by law/regulation and successful completion of a competency evaluation program. Documentation of one year’s employment as an aide in an institution, home care, or hospice setting. Meet agency hiring criteria as defined in agency minimum standards (e.g., provision of professional references). Be able to function in a practice environment with minimal direct supervision, accepting personal responsibility for maintaining a professional relationship with agency clients and their families. Accept responsibility for maintaining skills, learning and adhering to agency policies and procedures on an ongoing basis. Consistently demonstrate the Organizational Core Competencies and Organizational Code of Ethics, and adhere to the Compliance Program.
