THE SCHOOL BOARD OF HIGHLANDS COUNTY POSITION TITLE: Assistant Supervisor ASSIGNMENT: Assistant Site Supervisor - Food & Nutrition Services MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years documented experience as a Food & Nutrition Assistant in SBHC or four (4) years documented equivalent experience
- Knowledge of computer, cash register, and food processing equipment as related to departmental job functions
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Ability to reach, stretch, bend, stoop or kneel to handle, lift or move objects from floor level to 6 feet above floor level
- Ability to walk or stand for periods of four (4) continuous hours
- Ability to work in under the following environmental conditions:
- The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures are below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
- The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures are above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour
- The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level
- The worker is subject to hazards. This includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, and exposure to high heat or chemicals.
- Satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening
- Directly responsible to the Food Service Manager for satisfactory completion of all assigned duties (oral or written), performed to the established standard
- Pleasant, cooperative and helpful attitude toward manager, co-workers, principal, teachers, staff and students.
- Responsible to the Food & Nutrition Manager for observance of sanitation and safety rules and regulations
- Reports promptly for work, clocks in and out at the scheduled time
- Assists manager as needed and prepares to take responsibility of entire department in the absence of the manager
- Assists with allocation of specific daily duties of the school's Food & Nutrition personnel
- Assists in all food production areas to assure that food is prepared and served palatably
- Checks all food production for quality and quantity
- Assists in ordering supplies and in maintenance of inventory
- Keeps close check on all equipment and reports to the manager any needed repairs
- Keeps close check on refrigeration and proper storage of food
- Participates in inservice training sessions and attends managers' meetings when requested
- Utilizes equipment properly, practice preventive maintenance and leaves equipment clean and sanitary
- Adheres to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Handbook for School Food Service Personnel
- Will take appropriate hours of annual continuing education/training as required by USDA Professional Standards or other such agencies
