Building Engineer (3RD SHIFT)

Job Summary Operating/Building Engineer – On‑site, Mascoutah, IL / St. Louis, MO. This role keeps our facilities running at peak performance by operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across all building systems. Responsibilities Operate, maintain, and repair mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems to ensure all facility and building systems meet applicable standards. Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and associated equipment—including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts—to maintain optimal performance. Record equipment readings and system parameters, make necessary adjustments, and identify potential issues before they worsen. Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors to ensure standards are met and costs remain competitive. Maintain responsibility for facility services, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance coordination, and general maintenance tasks. Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory to ensure all equipment is available, properly maintained, and ready for use. Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems, including ballast replacement throughout the facility. Maintain and repair plumbing fixtures—including toilets, urinals, and hand wash stations—and operate drain cleaning augers to resolve blockages. Comply with departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean and safe workplace at all times. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems. Ability to analyze the operation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, determine causes of problems, and take corrective action. Working knowledge of CMMS (e.g., Corrigo). High school diploma or GED equivalent. Physical ability to bend, sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach, and lay as required to access equipment components for extended periods of time. Ability to work exposed to varying environmental conditions including heat, sunlight, rain, cold, and both daylight and nighttime hours. Preferred Qualifications EPA 608 Type II certification or higher for refrigerant handling. Additional EPA certifications (universal certification preferred). Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Trade certifications or technical school training in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing disciplines. Experience working in mission‑critical facilities or environments requiring 24/7 operations. Shift 10:00PM – 6:30AM, Sunday – Thursday. Compensation $62,400.00 – $74,880.00USD per year. Location On‑site – Mascoutah, IL, St. Louis, MO. Benefits 401(k) plan with matching company contributions.
