RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Evaluate student’s needs and provides interventions to redirect behavior Document appropriate data as instructed by the Dean of Student Culture. Implements behavioral programs and interventions designed to make positive and appropriate changes Assesses crisis situations and defuses situations using conflict resolution and crisis management techniques Write clear and detailed observations Reinforces appropriate behaviors and redirects negative behaviors Provides values clarification including rules, expectations and consequences Implements logical consequences for inappropriate behavior With proper training, physically restrain students if necessary for safety Works with the School Wellness team, Dean of Student Culture, and teachers to develop an effective program of interventions for changing unacceptable behavior of students Provides information to parents, guardians, or other care providers concerning action of students Ensures consistency of behavioral standards by coordinating with appropriate student contacts Consults with teachers, operations team, and school leaders to obtain information and advice on prior behavior problems, and provides information as necessary concerning behavioral concerns Assists the school team by monitoring student behavior changes, assisting with academics, and supervising various activities during the course of the instructional day to maintain a controlled and safe environment for students and staff Attends IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and student progress meetings as requested Implements school’s emergency procedures as requested Attends trainings regarding safety, security, physical restraints and behavior management procedures as requested PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Adhering to the 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. work day Regularly attends work and adheres to all attendance policies. Be on time for classes, duties, team meetings and professional development activities. Communicate about and plan for absences in advance with teaching teams and the Principal. Participate in monthly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings. Contribute to PLC sessions by being prepared to share data, ideas, student work, materials, feedback, facilitating sessions and/or discussions. Participate in a Summer Professional Development. Summer Professional Development will be two weeks in August before students return. Seek out additional opportunities for professional development that will lead to achieving personal and school-wide professional development goals. Reading provided school information and adhering to all deadlines. Respond to all emails within 24 hours or the next business day. Other professional duties as assigned. SCHOOL CULTURE Create and maintain a physically and emotionally safe environment for students. Communicate respectfully to students, staff and families at all times. Model, practice and discuss respectful, unbiased and effective communication with students. Other school culture expectations as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree is required Registered Behavior Technician certificate (RBT) preferred. Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) Be committed to meeting the needs of a diverse student population. Have a track record of being a team player and community minded. Be committed to their own learning. Have excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Have a passion for urban public schools. Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards. SALARY & BENEFITS Salary range: $54,000-$70,456 $2,000 is awarded for Spanish or Amharic language proficiency Salary is based on educational level, certification(s), and years of experience. The successful candidate will be contracted yearly. Employment will be renewed according to evaluations and staff interest.
