Director, IT Financial Management

What You'll DoWe’re looking for a Director of IT Financial Management to help establish and lead our enterprise IT Financial Management (ITFM) capability. In this highly visible role, you’ll shape how Principal builds greater transparency into technology investments, connects spend to business value, and enables leaders to make more informed decisions about technology resources.You’ll serve as the central leader for an evolving, enterprise-wide ITFM practice, partnering across Technology, Finance, and the business to build a consistent approach while recognizing that different areas of the organization may mature at different speeds. The role will operate as a high-level individual contributor, leading through influence and a broad network of ITFM stewards and cross-functional partners.You’ll have the opportunity toOwn and evolve our enterprise ITFM capability, establishing the governance, frameworks, standards, taxonomy, processes, and roadmap that enable greater transparency and financial stewardship of technology investmentsLead an enterprise ITFM steward community, creating alignment across a federated organization while helping business units adopt, mature, and continuously improve ITFM practicesBridge Technology and Finance, partnering closely with FP&A, technology leaders, business teams, and other stakeholders to support planning, forecasting, cost management, reporting, and investment decisionsTurn complex financial and technology information into actionable insights, helping leaders better understand technology consumption, costs, trends, risks, and opportunitiesAdvance the maturity of the ITFM practice, applying relevant Technology Business Management (TBM) concepts and external practices while determining what makes sense for PrincipalInfluence across organizational boundaries, building credibility with stakeholders who may have different priorities and driving alignment without direct authorityChampion continuous improvement, partnering with teams responsible for the technology and processes that enable ITFM to strengthen reporting, governance, transparency, and the overall stakeholder experienceOperating at the intersection of financial services and technology, Principal builds financial tools that help our customers live better lives. Our mission, integrity, and customer focus have made us a trusted leader for more than 140 years.Who You Are10+ years of experience in IT Financial Management, IT Business Management, Technology Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis supporting IT, Technology Strategy, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, military experience, or educationDemonstrated experience leading enterprise capabilities, governance frameworks, strategic programs, steward networks, or other complex initiatives across a highly matrixed organizationStrong knowledge of Technology Business Management (TBM), IT Financial Management (ITFM), technology cost management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning practicesProven ability to operate at the intersection of Technology and Finance, translating between the two and building credibility with leaders across both functionsAbility to navigate complexity, ambiguity, and competing stakeholder priorities while influencing senior leaders and driving adoption without direct authorityStrategic approach with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and relationship-management skills.Experience leading organizational change and finding opportunities to improve processes, governance, transparency, and operational effectivenessSkills That Will Help You Stand OutDirect experience leading or significantly contributing to an IT Financial Management or Technology Business Management capabilityExperience applying TBM frameworks, taxonomy, methodologies, or industry practices within a large organizationExperience working within a large, federated or distributed technology organization with multiple business units and stakeholder groupsExperience working within a global organization or consulting on technology business management, IT financial management, or finance transformation initiativesSalary Range InformationSalary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)$150000 - $185000 / year Time Off ProgramFlexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided. Pension EligibleYes Work EnvironmentsThis role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, Charlotte, NC, and Raleigh, NC).
