Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired near the vibrant New Orleans area. This school-based contract opportunity, spanning the 2026-2027 academic year, is ideal for detail-oriented educators passionate about supporting visually impaired learners across diverse school environments.

Responsibilities you can expect include:
• Providing direct instructional support and specialized services to visually impaired students (caseload and age range to be determined)
• Traveling daily between multiple schools to meet student needs and offer expert guidance
• Collaborating closely with general educators to ensure learning materials are prepared in Braille or other appropriate formats
• Sourcing, preparing, and adapting specialized textbooks and learning materials
• Leading in-service training sessions for school personnel to promote inclusive education practices
• Communicating regularly with the Louisiana Department of Education to report on student progress and service implementation
• Serving as a knowledgeable resource for assistive technology, providing training and support to both students and staff
• Delivering Braille instruction and supporting orientation and mobility training as required
• Managing documentation, record-keeping, and other duties assigned by program leadership

Key qualifications to thrive in this role:
• Bachelor’s degree and current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, holding active Louisiana DOE credentials
• At least 3 years of teaching experience in elementary, secondary, and/or special education settings
• Proven expertise with assistive technology for the visually impaired
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and travel between school sites with reliable personal transportation
• Drug screening and fingerprinting will be required before employment
