It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer segments. ​ResponsibilitiesDesigns, develops, tests, and debugs software applications and systemsCompletes software builds through consistent development practices, including the use of tools, common components, and documentation with guidance from peers and leadersCompletes code reviews and automated testing to maintain high-quality code standards with guidance from peers and leadersSupports and monitors software across test, integration, and production environmentsAdheres to security and regulatory best practices to ensure software complianceCollaborates and co-creates effectively with teams in product and the business to align technology initiatives with business objectivesQualificationsEducation Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, and/or comparable experienceKnowledge of distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, NoSQL and relational databasesKnowledge of the core tools used in the planning, analyzing, crafting, building, testing, configuring, and maintaining of assigned application(s)Strong proficiency in Java with hands-on experience developing enterprise applications.Working knowledge of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.Work Experience:Software engineering and development experience or a related jobExperience in application design, software development, and automated testingExperience in object-oriented design and coding with variety of languagesExperience in distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databasesExperience in Agile software development methodologies and practices such as Scrum/Kanban, iterations, user storiesExperience in automation testing and documentation (i.e. automated, functional, and performance)Depending on factors such as business unit requirements, the nature of the position, cost and applicable laws, American Express may provide visa sponsorship for certain positions.About the TeamAt American Express, our culture is built on a 175-year history of innovation, shared values and Leadership Behaviors, and an unwavering commitment to back our customers, communities, and colleagues.
