Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs various technical, clerical, and information systems-related procedures in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, specimen procurement, and other laboratory areas as requested on patient specimens, control materials, and proficiency samples. This skilled individual is responsible for performing laboratory tests efficiently and accurately to ensure high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of results.
• Enter data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into computer systems for storage.
• Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Establish and monitor quality assurance programs and activities to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results.
• Collect and study blood samples for various tests, including blood typing and compatibility for transfusions.
• Analyze biological samples for chemical content and reactions.
• Provide technical information about test results to physicians, family members, and researchers.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Must have an active Phlebotomist License and an active Washington State MA-P License.
