Job Summary In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-CL1 Major Responsibilities On a small to medium job, performs the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Deputy Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section Leadership/Supervision Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback Leads in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline. Work Planning & Packaging Coordinates with design on constructability issues. Material Management Directs the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, and equipment. Quantities Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting. Safety / Quality Control Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely. System Turnover Coordinator For Direct Hire: Possesses responsibility for coordinating between construction and startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the startup specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility (as required) for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE. STR / Subcontract Coordinator Reviews and approves inspection test plans Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals Education and Experience Requirements Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge and Skills Candidate should be well versed in Direct Hire Construction installation of Piping, Tubing, and Process Commodity installation (Union experience preferred). Understanding of codes and standards ASME B31, ASTM, API, and ANSI Effective communication skills. Experience motivating team members, solving open-ended problems, and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner. Preference given to previous Bechtel experience. Experience managing technical services subcontracts is desirable. Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office software suite required. Work includes field inspections which require the following physical capabilities: extensive walking in and around a construction site in extreme heat and cold, climbing ladders, working on elevated platforms and scaffolds; crawling and crouching; working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces for extended periods of time. Ability to lift 25lb objects is required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project site (enter/egress). Must be able to use the appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task including body harness and lanyards. Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen. Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrated commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
