Details Medical Surgical unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with a daily census of approximately 43 Patient ratio of 1:6 Night shift, 4x12 hours, 18:45-07:15 36 or 48 hours per week accepted 13-26 week contracts accepted Charge role preferred for night shift travelers Assigned to work every other weekend On-call required if scheduled for a prescheduled on-call shift Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatient holding Unit performs heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, and high flow oxygen therapy Occasional short-term BiPAP respiratory support with no additional training required No PCU level patients on this unit Uses Epic and Pyxis for medication and documentation, with SBAR communication Assigned to an Inclement Weather Team and may be required to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters Requirements Active RN license (NC or Compact) BLS certification required; CPI certification preferred Minimum 2 years of experience required Epic charting experience required Charge nurse experience preferred Skills in heparin and insulin drip management, IV therapy, peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation/EKG Wound vac and wound care experience BiPAP/CPAP and non-invasive airway management experience preferred Must pass EKG testing prior to start First-time travelers accepted Additional Information Provide direct care to general Med/Surg adult and geriatric patients Must be able to work holidays, including 2 of 3 major holidays May care for COVID-19 patients as needed Unit orientation is 24 hours Scrubs are navy and not provided All staff required to attend monthly unit team meetings, typically held on the 4th Wednesday (3rd Wednesday in November/December) at 17:30, with an additional night shift meeting the following Friday at 07:30 Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved, excluding holidays; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment Previous PERM/PRN/EP employees of Novant Health or New Hanover must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details for facility approval Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission American Traveler Job ID P-741138.
