Mechanical Designer

OverviewLutron has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Designer at our Global Headquarters in Coopersburg, PA. In this role, you will be an integral member of our Engineering team, contributing to the design, development, and support of innovative products. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver who thrives in a team environment and is passionate about supporting existing products while helping bring new product designs from concept to reality.ResponsibilitiesModeling of custom mechanical parts, assemblies, and tools in CreoPerform hands-on tasks such prototype building and validation testingPrototype and implement design tweaks to improve design quality and facilitate easier assemblySource prototype components using our 3D printers, from our in-house machine shop or nearby vendorsSupport documentation and part specification for existing and new productsPart verification and documentation of assembly tolerance stack analysisMulti task at a high level; manage multiple projects and priorities in parallelWork with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to gain consensus on part changesQualificationsAssociates degree or Bachelors degree in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Architecture, or related field requiredMinimum cumulative 3.00 GPA requiredMinimum 2 years of work experience that includes product design / development requiredComputer skills required: General (MS Word and Excel), Pro/E - Creo proficiencyAdvanced Excel skills are a plus. Familiarity with project management processes and meeting customer order commitments preferredFamiliarity and hands-on experience with various part manufacturing processes, such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and aluminum and plastic extrusions preferredTravel between local facilities requiredYou are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H-1B, either immediately or at any time in the future.
