Pharmacy Manager
The Pharmacy Manager/PIC excels in all departments including data entry, customer service, lab, and shipping. This position maintains high-quality pharmaceutical services and regulatory compliance while implementing standardized procedures to meet pharmacy objectives. The role requires strong multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment, with a consistent focus on quality and safety.
This role goes beyond compliance and clinical oversight. The Pharmacist in Charge leads day-to-day production, drives operational efficiency, and ensures that prescriptions are compounded, verified, and shipped the same day whenever possible.
As Pharmacy Manager, you are expected to fulfill your responsibilities effectively, ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy. While standard working hours will apply, the nature of this leadership role may occasionally require your availability beyond standard hours to address urgent matters, oversee critical operations, or provide support to staff as needed. We trust your discretion in balancing these responsibilities while maintaining a focus on the advancement of MedRock's goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pharmacy Operations
- Oversee and manage all operational aspects of the pharmacy, ensuring all prescriptions are compounded, verified, and shipped with same-day turnaround whenever possible.
- Design, implement, and continuously refine workflows that support predictable, high-throughput operations.
- Establish daily and weekly production targets; monitor performance and drive accountability across departments.
- Identify workflow bottlenecks and coordinate real-time adjustments between data entry, lab, verification, and shipping teams. Ensure staffing levels meet minimum requirements for opening, closing, and meeting KPIs for daily operations.
- Implement and optimize established workflows and procedures through the development and/or oversight of policies and procedures.
- Deliver patient counseling while maintaining high standards of pharmaceutical care.
- Execute and report on operational directives from the Director of Operations.
- Manage inventory control systems and optimize stock levels.
- Drive operational efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
- Partner with leadership to integrate new technology, automation, or SOP improvements to enhance speed and accuracy.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Control
- Maintain continuous audit readiness; respond promptly to inspections or compliance inquiries. Identify and implement quality improvement opportunities.
- Lead the Continuous Quality Improvement and PIP initiatives for the pharmacy.
- Serve as pharmaceutical subject matter expert for staff and leadership.
- Oversee documentation of all clinical procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of pharmaceutical best practices.
- Maintain and improve pharmacy operations to meet and exceed accreditation and regulatory standards (Board of Pharmacy, PCAB, VPP,...)
- Clinical Leadership:
- Drive clinical excellence in compounding and dispensing operations.
- Serve as pharmaceutical subject matter expert for staff and leadership.
- Oversee documentation of all clinical procedures.
- Identify and implement quality improvement opportunities.
- Maintain current knowledge of pharmaceutical best practices.
- Department Supervision:
- Lead and develop pharmacy staff including pharmacists, technicians, and support personnel to consistently achieve same-day dispensing and shipping goals.
- Provide regular feedback, coaching, and training to ensure team members meet performance and compliance standards.
- Create and manage department schedules to optimize workflow.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide developmental feedback that drives accountability and measured improvement.
- Design and implement staff training programs focused on productivity, quality, and compliance.
- Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes excellence.
- Performance & Reporting:
- Track daily metrics across functions for prescription throughput and shipping turnaround times.
- Report operational performance, errors, and quality indicators to the Director of Operations.
- Collaborate with leadership to set goals, analyze trends, and implement performance improvement plans.
- Ensure all staff understand MedRock's key operational goal: "Same-Day Out" - verified, filled, and shipped the same day whenever possible.
