Safety Specialist 2

Role Summary The Safety Specialist 2 will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and increasingly complex construction projects. This position will be responsible for conducting safety inspections, identifying and documenting abatement of hazardous conditions, writing reports, and performing trend analysis in support of JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. Key Role Responsibilities - Core Conduct regular walk‑through inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with laws and company policies. Perform safety audits on assigned projects by identifying, documenting, and recommending abatement of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions to internal and external clients. Utilize internal safety management systems to document findings and track abatement techniques and closure. Conduct project‑specific new hire orientation and oversee drug and alcohol policy compliance. Monitor the implementation of prime contractor and/or subcontractor safety programs. Attend project pre‑planning, progress, and other relevant meetings to discuss safety‑related matters. Support field leadership in implementing safety program specifics, such as meetings, committees, and related activities, and chair the project safety committee. Assist in investigating project‑related accidents, confirm root causes with supervisor, and discuss recommendations for process changes to prevent recurrence. Coordinate with injured employees and clinics to ensure treatment and timely return to work. Compile progress summary reports of injuries for supervisor. Monitor site safety incentive program. Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core Possess a higher level of safety knowledge to identify complex safety issues and provide advanced abatement solutions. Apply advanced knowledge of equipment, laws, and work processes to project‑specific safety recommendations. Employ higher-level communication skills and actively lead meetings. Use internal safety management systems and tools to perform trend analysis, identify safety trends, problem areas, and recommend mitigations. Provide guidance and training on basic and intermediate safety topics for new and existing team personnel. Assist safety leadership during insurance audits. Oversee complex or multiple projects, including large or complex projects. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Bilingual in Spanish and English. Accurate and timely completion of work. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office. Knowledge of all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations. Proficiency with company safety software and tools (intermediate level). Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures. Ability to build relationships with team members across projects. Proficiency in required construction technology. Education Bachelor’s degree in a safety and health‑related field (preferred). In lieu of the above, equivalent relevant experience will be considered. Experience 2+ years of construction safety experience (required). Bilingual in Spanish and English.
