Estimator

Summary The Estimator is primarily responsible for determining the approximate cost associated with a vehicle’s damages and establishing the timeline for repairs. The Estimator also negotiates insurance payments and communicates costs to the customer. Title Estimator Status Exempt Created / Revised November 2020 Essential Functions and Responsibilities Examine all parts of vehicle that appear to be damaged and require repair, replacement, or repainting. Assess vehicle damage through inspections. Estimate the cost of labor and parts required to repair damage. Prepare insurance forms to document repair cost estimates. Communicate professionally to customers the extent of vehicle damage and answer any questions about the vehicle, costs, and insurance. Draft work orders with required repairs and enter them into CollisionRight’s system. Maintain a record of all repairs in the company file. Qualifications Solid working knowledge of the processes, techniques, and materials used in repairing automotive equipment with at least 1-3 years of experience in the collision repair arena. Extensive knowledge of vehicle structure to remove and replace damaged components such as doors, windscreens, and fenders. Demonstrated adherence to safety precautions required for the position. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds on average, with occasional lifts over 70 pounds. Aggility, equilibrium, and coordination for climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing in precarious conditions. Strong arm, hand, and finger dexterity with physical capacity to reach, handle, and tactile feel. Strong negotiation skills with a commitment to servicing the customer. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, production‑oriented environment. This position description is intended to be dynamic and subject to change.
