Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting the needs of a remarkable 8-year-old student as a dedicated school nurse in Hudson County. This is a 6-week contract position, perfect for an RN or LPN/LVN seeking meaningful experience in a school setting. You’ll be entrusted to provide compassionate care 1:1, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment that empowers this nonverbal and non-ambulatory student, starting September 23, 2026, through October 30, 2026 (with the possibility of a one-week extension).

As a crucial part of the student’s daily routine, you’ll manage health needs related to cerebral palsy, support G-tube feeding, respond to focal seizures (which occur infrequently), and accompany the student on the bus from roughly 7:40/7:50 AM to 3:00 PM. The current nurse will provide a thorough handoff, giving you an opportunity to ask questions and feel fully prepared as you transition into the role.

Ideal candidates possess:

• Active RN or LPN/LVN license in New Jersey
• Prior pediatric or school nursing experience strongly preferred
• Skills in G-tube management and seizure protocols
• Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with nonverbal students
• Reliability with punctuality for bus riding responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver direct daily nursing care, including G-tube feeds and medication administration
• Monitor for and respond to health changes, particularly seizures
• Offer a safe, supportive presence both in school and on the bus
• Collaborate with educational staff and parents to support the student’s well-being
• Maintain accurate medical documentation
