Position Overview
Our organization is excited to announce the expansion of our services to include a Sports & Functional Medicine division, dedicated to enhancing metabolic health, optimizing performance, and providing non-surgical musculoskeletal care. We are in search of a board-certified physician with expertise in Sports Medicine, along with a keen interest or experience in functional, metabolic, and hormone-related care, to spearhead this new service line.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and treat active adults and athletes dealing with non-surgical musculoskeletal issues.
- Deliver sports medicine-focused care, which includes injury prevention, exercise recommendations, and planning for return to activity.
- Lead medical weight loss initiatives, incorporating GLP-1 and body recomposition strategies.
- Diagnose and manage male hypogonadism and hormone optimization, including testosterone therapy.
- Design and supervise nutrition and supplement protocols based on evidence-based practices.
- Analyze advanced laboratory tests related to metabolism, hormones, and performance.
- Address lifestyle factors such as sleep, stress, recovery, and training intensity.
- Work closely with orthopedic surgeons to enhance pre- and post-operative results.
- Make appropriate referrals for surgical cases within the orthopedic practice.
Program Development
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of standardized clinical protocols for:
- Weight loss and metabolic health
- Hormone optimization
- Performance and longevity care
- Engage in shaping the brand and clinical identity of the Sports & Functional Medicine division.
- Assist in overseeing or collaborating with advanced practice providers (NPs/PAs), dietitians, or health coaches as the program expands.
Qualifications
Required
- MD or DO degree.
- Board certification in:
- Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.
- Possession of an active, unrestricted medical license (or the ability to obtain one).
- Comfortable operating within a self-pay or cash-based clinical framework.
- Excellent communication skills with a patient-centered focus.
Preferred
- Additional training or certification in one or more of the following areas:
- Functional Medicine (e.g., IFM or equivalent)
- Obesity Medicine (ABOM or equivalent experience)
- Hormone replacement therapy
- Lifestyle or longevity medicine
- Previous experience in:
- Sports medicine clinics
- Concierge or direct primary care
- Practices focused on performance, wellness, or optimization
- A desire to develop and expand a service line within a larger orthopedic organization.
