Conducts tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.Installs equipment,engines,hoses,batteries,tires,wheels/brakes,HVAC,wiring,etc.,orprogramstomeetspecifications. Watches gauges, dials, or otherindicators to make sure equipment is working properly. Service, repairs, adjusts, and tests machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical principles.Inspects equipment, structures, etc., of materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.Analyzes information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.CBA PositionPosition Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement: Starting Pay $41.76 - $44.06Benefits IncludeVacation: Minimum of 5 days per yearPaid Sick Leave: 40 hours yearly full-time employees; medical, dental & vision after 90 calendar days of employment for full-time employees, life insurance, 401k retirement benefits, and company holidays.### Duties* Adjustandrelinebrakes,alignwheels,tightenboltsandscrews,andreassembleequipment.* Alignfrontendsandsuspensionsystems.* Attachtestinstruments toequipmentandreaddialsandgauges inordertodiagnosemalfunctions.* Disassembleandoverhaulinternalcombustionengines,pumps,generators,transmissions,clutches,and differential units.* Examineandadjust protectiveguards,loosebolts,andspecifiedsafetydevices.* Inspectbrakesystems,steeringmechanisms,wheelbearings,andotherimportantpartstoensurethattheyare in proper operating condition.* Inspect,repair,andmaintainautomotiveandmechanicalequipmentandmachinerysuchaspumpsand compressors.* Inspect,test,andlistentodefectiveequipmenttodiagnosemalfunctions,usingtestinstrumentssuchas handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.* Operatevalve-grindingmachinestogrindandreset valves.* Performroutinemaintenancesuchaschangingoil,checkingbatteries,andlubricatingequipmentand machinery.* Raisetrucks,buses,andheavypartsorequipmentusinghydraulicjacksorhoists.* Reconditionandreplaceparts,pistons,bearings,gears,and valves.* Repairandadjustseats,doors,andwindows,andinstallandrepairaccessories.* Rewireignitionsystems,lights,andinstrumentpanels.* Inspectandverifydimensionsandclearancesofpartstoensureconformancetofactory specifications.* Specializeinrepairingandmaintainingpartsofthe engine,suchasfuelinjectionsystems.* Test drivetrucksandbusestodiagnosemalfunctionsortoensurethattheyareworkingproperly.* Usehandtoolssuchasscrewdrivers,pliers,wrenches,pressuregauges,andprecisioninstruments,aswellas power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.* Otherdutiestoensurethe safeoperationandefficiencyofthe department.### RequirementsMechanic A:* 5+ years’ experience.* Must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair the most difficult of all vehicle and equipment service.* Must be able to teach Mechanic B and C as time permits, more complex repair techniques.* Must demonstrate superior mechanical skills and mentoring capabilities.* Must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot andrepairthemost difficultofall vehiclesandequipment inservice.* Must beable toteachMechanicBandCs,astimepermits,morecomplexrepairtechniques.* Mustdemonstrate superior customer service skills and mentoring capabilities as well as perform other duties to ensure the safe operation and efficiency of the department.PhysicaldemandsThephysicaldemandsdescribedherearerepresentativesofthosethatmustbemetbytheemployeetosuccessful performtheessentialfunctionsofthisjob.
