Network EngineerReporting to: Director, Network EngineeringLocation: It is preferred that this position is based out of our Bethesda, MD office but can be based remotely. US citizenship or permanent residency is requiredOpportunity: GW RhythmX is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Network Engineer to implement and maintain network infrastructure. The Network Engineer will be part of a team responsible for the day-to-day support of our local and remote networks, VPN connections, and associated systems and processes. Support duties include new installations, troubleshooting, and re-configuration of switches, routers, firewalls, and related devices including some Linux systems. The Network Engineer should possess a strong understanding of networking concepts coupled with strong customer service experience. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate in the management of new projects to grow and improve our systems and networks. Duties include but are not limited to the creation and maintenance of related documentation, automation, cloud and on-premises networking, along with client facing projects.ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and troubleshoot on-premises, cloud, and hybrid networksDrive process improvements leveraging automation and open source technologiesMaintain cloud network components within an Amazon Web Services environmentUtilize automation tools to monitor, maintain, lower TCO and meet defined KPI'sDevelop solutions that are reusable and can be broadly applied to common network problemsEnsure network hardware and software are maintained and updated along with preventative maintenanceMonitor and analyze the network environment to identify and resolve problemsEnsure accountability for detail-orientation to deliver well-tested, secure, interoperable, reproducible technologies that support company vision and strategyMaintain effective relationships within the companyStay up to date with current and emerging network technologiesAdhere to all organizational information security policies and protect all sensitive information including but not limited to ePHI and PHI in accordance with organizational policy and Federal, State, and local regulationsRequirementsUnderstanding of networking concepts such as the OSI Model, TCP/IP, Routing Protocols, IPsec VPN, and NATKnowledge of industry standard networking concepts, practices, procedures, and protocolsFamiliarity with cloud networking concepts (Amazon Web Services)Familiarity with at least one scripting language or configuration tool (Ansible, BASH, Python, etc…)Knowledge of wireless network design and troubleshootingStrong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills that result in conclusive recommendations / decisionsAbility to work with a high degree of autonomy, integrity and accountabilityAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environmentAbility to be detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and time-management skillsAbility to have a flexible schedule to accommodate after-hours response to incident-related escalations when necessaryAbout YouExecution oriented - This person loathes doing nothing and is capable of defining their path forward from a high-level vision.Diagnostic mindset.
