Rapid Response Team Registered Nurse

Your Role on the Team

Position Summary: The Rapid Response Team (RRT) Registered Nurse is responsible for the coordination of Code Blue and Rapid Response Team assessment of patient prioritization and additionally responds to Code Stroke calls. Responds to rapid response alerts; facilitating appropriate nursing care for urgent/emergent potential and actual clinical deterioration, and implementing advanced nursing interventions for optimal patient outcomes, including Point of Care Ultrasounds, iSTAT laboratory, and performance of ABGs and insertion of Intraosseus devices. Acts as the clinical resource for physicians and staff, and evaluates patient scoring for potential deterioration, ensuring inclusion in surveillance rounding to enhance patient care. Duties also include development of practice guidelines, data collection and analysis, education and evaluation of patient care during a rapid response or near miss event. The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Provides safe and culturally sensitive patient care in accordance with UCI Health standards and policies. The RRT nurse is accountable for addressing the patient/family biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs.

Requirements: Must have a current CA RN license and maintain current Must have a current BLS and ACLS and maintain current CCRN or TCRN upon hire and maintain current All external candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or above Minimum five years of recent clinical nursing experience in ICU or ED Minimum two years of recent experience in an acute care setting Other Requirements: Working knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements present in an acute care setting Strong customer service orientation as well as written and oral communication skills Demonstrated leadership skills evidenced by leadership in a variety of areas including but not limited to: leading a project, team, or council; acting as PCC, alert nurse or preceptor; or teaching a class/skills lab or acting as a clinical instructor Complete understanding of acuity levels for specific patient populations Basic computer literacy and proficiency with MS Word and MS Outlook Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
