Education Coordinator - STEP Facility

Summary:

Coordinates and oversees education and career and technical education (CTE) programming as at a Short-Term Expanded Programming (STEP) Facility. Ensures programs are effectively implemented, participants have access to appropriate educational and workforce opportunities, and program operations comply with Department of Corrections requirements and established performance standards.

Essential Functions:

• Coordinate and oversee day-to-day delivery of STEP education, CTE, and testing.
• Implement program goals, objectives, policies, and performance measures established by the Department of Corrections.
• Screen and assess participants for appropriate educational, CTE programming and monitor participant progress.
• Administer and coordinate required assessments and testing, including TABE, HiSET, industry-based credential (IBC), and other program assessments.
• Coordinate CTE programs, instructors, tutors, instructional resources, testing, certifications, and technology.
• Recruit, screen, train, supervise, and evaluate education and CTE support staff, tutors, and instructors, as applicable.
• Maintain accurate student enrollment, participation, completion, credential, movement, and exit data in required systems and registries.
• Prepare and submit required monthly, quarterly, and other program reports, including data and documentations required by Headquarters and facility administration.
• Maintain accurate participant files CTE documentation, certification records, and materials necessary for audits and program compliance.
• Coordinate with Headquarters, IBC Regional Coordinators, facility administration, education staff, and other partners to address program needs and improve service delivery.
• Participate in reentry planning and the Reentry Committee to assess participant progress and identify barriers to successful transition.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with business and industry to create employment pathways and workforce opportunities for participants.
• Ensure education and CTE programs maintain compliance with applicable accreditation, certification, and Department of Correction standards.
• Manage and inventory educational technology, instructional resources, and program equipment.
• Coordinate purchasing and resource need for education and CTE programs withing established guidelines.
• Develop and deliver training and technical assistance related to education and CTE program implementation, as needed.
• Participate in required professional development and maintain applicable certifications, including online exam proctoring and CTE-related credentials.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the education program at the STEP facility.

Work Environment

· This job is located at a correctional facility; however, this job operates primarily in a professional office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
