Description:
is seeking a Financial Administrator to support its Department of Medicine in Madison, Wisconsin. This role focuses on managing, tracking, and reconciling financial data for sponsored research programs, ensuring accurate budgeting and compliance with institutional and funding requirements.

The Financial Administrator will work closely with principal investigators, research teams, and departmental leadership to oversee financial operations for both sponsored and non-sponsored projects. The role involves monitoring expenditures, preparing financial reports, and ensuring proper handling of accounting transactions in accordance with university and funding guidelines.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining budgets for sponsored research projects
• Monitoring and reconciling financial transactions and expenditures
• Assisting principal investigators with day-to-day financial management
• Processing procurement activities and cost transfers
• Managing subaward financial documentation and reporting
• Reviewing and approving financial transactions for compliance and accuracy
• Preparing financial reports, invoices, and funding documentation
• Ensuring adherence to internal controls and accounting standards

The ideal candidate should be able to communicate effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders, exercise strong judgment in reviewing transactions, and work independently while coordinating with multiple departments.

Required qualifications:

• At least 2 years of professional finance or accounting experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working with automated accounting systems
• Familiarity with Workday financial systems
• Background in complex financial or research administration environments
