The Charge Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry / Congestive Heart Failure will lead the Green 5 West Heart Failure/Cardiac Telemetry Unit, a 29‑bed, Joint Commission‑certified facility that cares for heart‑failure patients and those requiring continuous monitoring pre‑ and post‑interventional procedures. Day shift (United States), Full time, Day Shift. Overview The Cardiac Service Line at Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center is part of an award‑winning hospital team. The unit focuses on heart‑failure patients and those undergoing cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker/AICD implantations, and acute coronary syndrome management. Nursing duties include monitoring, rhythm interpretation, fluid and electrolyte balance, inotropic therapy, respiratory status, pre‑ and post‑procedure care, medical management, rehabilitation initiation, and comfort/palliative measures. Patient and family education and emotional support are integral to care. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Exemplary practice and outcomes. Rounds on every patient daily to evaluate quality and appropriateness of patient care, providing corrective action when needed and utilizing peer coaching and accountability. Performs or provides oversight for the Nursing Process, using evidence‑based practice to individualize care and coordinate partnerships. Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care by partnering with patients and significant others, using comprehensive hand‑off communication and timely teaching. Practices current clinical practice standards with a focus on safety and quality. In the Emergency Department setting: rounds on patients in a modified method with nurses to focus on safety concerns. Teamwork and collaboration: communicates with the nurse manager and/or assistant nurse manager about care delivery or employee performance needs or concerns. Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation. Demonstrates teamwork by practicing a fiscally responsible, inclusive clinical environment that supports recruitment and retention. Participates and supports performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance at all system levels. Professional development: ensures confidentiality, compliance, and completion of mandatory education and proficiencies. Serves as a preceptor or mentor for professional nurses and other disciplines. Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement. Upholds health‑care system policies and procedures, including accreditation standards such as TJC Patient Safety Goals and WellStar safety absolutes. Participates in data collection, posits relevant clinical questions to advance evidence‑based practice, and consults experts with appropriate resources. Resource management: monitors equipment inventory, participates in resource planning, and assists with staffing during surges. Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum and contributes to protocol development when warranted. Tactical Responsibilities Make patient assignments taking into account new grads, float status, and patient type. Review daily discharge and length‑of‑stay data. Round with physicians and surgeons. Assign surgery beds in conjunction with the surgery schedule. Consult with nursing administration on bed flow and availability. For emergency services: manage assignments, waiting room, and multiple sections open at different times. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school (required) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school (preferred).
