With locations in Grand Forks, ND; Anniston, AL; and Milton, WI, our success is driven by a strong financial foundation that supports our continued growth and commitment to exceptional customer service.The Accounting Specialist supports the full accounting department, working across Billing, Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Payroll. This position is responsible for accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, data entry, and documentation while partnering with internal teams and external customers to resolve discrepancies and requests.The Accounting Specialist maintains high accuracy and efficiency in daily operations, assists with month-end close, supports the annual external audit and tax processes, and upholds the highest level of confidentiality with all financial information. The role also handles general accounting and office duties as assigned to ensure smooth departmental operations.Accounting Specialist Responsibilities:Maintain prompt, efficient, and accurate data entry to ensure customer issues are resolved in a timely manner.Perform accurate data entry, invoice creation, auditing, and resolution of customer disputes.Review and process incoming paperwork, including Bills of Lading, for accuracy.Process customer-specific billing, audit carrier freight bills, and verify charges against contracts.Research and resolve invoice discrepancies with carriers, customers, and internal teams.Assist in the management of customer accounts receivable aging.Maintain routine professional communication with customers and carriers via phone and email.Support other general office duties and financial functions as assigned.Accounting Specialist Required Skills:High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferredAbility to handle high-volume data entry and processing with a high degree of accuracy and efficiencyStrong attention to detail and accuracyProven problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve discrepanciesAbility to work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to multitask and prioritize effectivelyBasic computer skills, including typing proficiency and comfort with Microsoft Office (especially Excel)Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial and customer informationAccounting Specialist Preferred Skills:Previous experience in freight billing, accounts receivable, logistics, or transportation preferredFamiliarity with Bills of Lading, carrier invoices, and freight contractsExperience with EDI, customer billing portals, or transportation management systems (TMS)Prior experience auditing invoices or managing accounts receivable aging Experience supporting month-end close or other finance processesBenefits:Health Insurance (multiple plans, some with $0 deductible)Vision, Dental, Short-Term Disability, Accident, and other ancillary benefitsPaid Time Off with accrual beginning on Day OnePaid HolidaysFlexible Spending Account (FSA)401(k) with Company MatchCareer advancement opportunities within a growing, family-owned organization
