The anticipated hiring salary for this position will be $72,567 - $87,772.07. Community Health Nurse II, Grade 24: The salary range above represents this position's earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $82,352 - $105,591, based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. This is a term position budgeted through July 1, 2027. Continued employment beyond this date is subject to continuation of funding and is not guaranteed.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Behavioral Health and Crisis Services is currently recruiting for a Term Community Health Nurse, to work with our community and jail-based Medication Assisted Treatment team. The Community Health Nurse plays a crucial role on the medical team engaged in the treatment of clients with Opioid Use Disorder and are a central figure in assisting clients on a path to recovery and wellbeing.

What You'll Be Doing

Position is assigned to the Medication Assisted Treatment Program and is responsible for administering methadone in accordance with DEA, ADAA, and COMAR regulations, maintaining accurate record keeping that includes medical and clinical documentation. The Nurse is a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team that includes therapists, Nurse Manager, Clinical Supervisor, and Physician that meets weekly to ensure coordination of services. Position is responsible for dispensing medication to program clients and delivering methadone to home bound clients and to other agencies as required. CHN II assesses clients' health, planning and delivering care, transportation of clients as indicated, and emergency interventions and contacting emergency medical professionals. The Nurse will also assist physicians during appointments, collect vitals as needed, collect urine samples as needed, and assist and support the programs outreach efforts to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility and Detention Center. Dispenses methadone as assigned using computerized dosing system and adhere to all DEA requirements for administering drug administration for narcotics. Prepares daily methadone inventory and maintain clinical records twice a day and prepares written and statistical reports. Directs client care including assessment, monitoring, planning and implementation of medical administration. Provides emergency nursing services/crisis intervention services. Providing education for preventive care for clients in need of medical care including hepatitis, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), diabetes, and pregnancy preventive care. Work schedule will be Monday Friday from 7am to 3:30pm. Occasional work after these hours may be required. The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a medical exam, drug screening, and a background check conducted by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Services.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from a National League for Nursing accredited college or university or an equivalent program as determined by the Maryland Board of Examiners with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Experience: Position maybe filled at the Community Health Nurse I or Community Health Nurse II level as follows: Community Health Nurse I, Grade 21: No Experience Community Health Nurse II, Grade 24: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent post-licensure experience as a Registered Nurse, one year of which must have been in the nursing area of administering methadone and working with clients in Medication Assisted Treatment Program. License: Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Maryland State, of Maryland issued by the Maryland Board of Examiners is required at the time of appointment. If the license is temporary, a regular Maryland RN license must be obtained within ninety (90) days of appointment. The State of Maryland accepts as valid the current RN licensure from a candidate's primary state of residence if that state has an interstate compact with Maryland. The states having this interstate compact are Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin. (This equivalency only applies to candidates whose primary residence is not Maryland). Any Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) applying for licensure and living in a member state of the Multistate Licensure Compact must take the NCLEX exam in their home state. Note: There will be no substitutions for this section.

Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences

Preference for interview will be given to qualified candidates with experience in the following areas:

• Experience working in a jail-based substance use treatment program
• Experience providing methadone, suboxone, vivitrol and sublocade treatment
• Experience conducting physical assessments and performing technical nursing procedures
• Experience with medical and nursing equipment
• Experience with electronic health records and excellent computer skills
