Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments and reassessments according to policy.
- Provide age-appropriate care for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Assess and manage patient pain using appropriate interventions and patient/family education.
- Modify care plans based on patient response and effectiveness of treatment.
- Perform point-of-care testing, interpret results, and take appropriate action according to policy.
- Administer medications safely following established medication administration standards.
- Assist physicians with procedures requiring technical and clinical nursing skills.
- Develop and implement patient and family education plans.
- Perform treatments and services within scope of licensure.
- Maintain professional, respectful interactions with patients and families.
- Address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, administration, and healthcare team members.
- Maintain professional competency through continuing education, professional organizations, workshops, and training.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by nursing leadership.
- Assess neonates at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation according to current guidelines.
- Conduct antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal assessments and reassessments.
- Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and communicate findings appropriately to physicians.
- Assist physicians with procedures in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn Nursery settings.
- Support and educate new mothers regarding breastfeeding techniques.
- Strong self-motivation and ability to maintain productivity.
- Effective prioritization and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of customer service principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate clinical documentation skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and decision-making abilities.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and positive patient experiences.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, CMS requirements, National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs), HIPAA compliance, and accreditation standards.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and attendance.
Required
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Required
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
