Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Abilene, Texas.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: OR - Operating Room\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/05/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, days\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Days, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 5, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with required craniotomy and burr hole experience for a fast-paced surgical unit.Details\n \n Operating Room setting supporting Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Trauma, and General/Robotics/Trauma service lines\n Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM\n Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday block schedule with call and late days as required\n 1:1 patient ratio\n Allscripts charting system preferred but not required\n Requirements\n \n Active RN license (TX or Compact) required in hand at time of submission\n BLS certification required\n ACLS, CNOR, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC certifications preferred\n 2 years of experience in the OR service line required\n Craniotomy and burr hole experience required\n Experience with trauma cases including amputations, burns, gunshot/stab wounds, and MVAs\n Neurological surgical experience including anterior cervical fusion, cervical fusion, craniotomy, kyphoplasty, laminectomy/discectomy, and lumbar fusion\n Orthopedic surgical experience including ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, arthrotomy, carpal tunnel release, and fracture reductions\n Spinal fusion and total joint replacement experience\n General surgery experience including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, and mastectomy\n Da Vinci Xi Surgical System robotics experience preferred\n Trauma Level I or II hospital experience preferred\n Previous charge experience preferred\n Travel experience preferred\n Additional Information\n \n Facility conducts its own onsite drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, and any positive result results in automatic cancellation\n Candidates should avoid any products, including CBD, that could result in a positive drug screen upon arrival\n Must reside within 150 miles for local candidate consideration under facility radius rules\n Local candidates are not accepted for this position\n Previous permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler\n Must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or provide a completion plan\n Non-billable orientation modules average 6-8 hours and are completed during orientation\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-753667.
