Uses the computer to register and accession specimens.(15%)* Knows various needles, anticoagulants, special handling, and preparation of tests that are performed.(5%)* Assists with inventory and putting away supplies.(5%)* Assists with specimen processing.(15%)* Performs other related miscellaneous duties.Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement as required by the Hospital and the job description.Understands and is accountable for the Hospital's customer service standards.Credential: FingerprintingDMV Record CheckEducation: High School Diploma or GEDEquivalent Experience: Requires the completion of a formal phlebotomy program that includes both classroom and practical (on-the-job) experience or equivalent education or experience or Nursing student with at least 1 completed semester in the nursing program who are willing to obtain their phlebotomy certification within 12 months of hire or transfer.Requires the completion of a formal phlebotomy program that includes both classroom and practical (on-the-job) experience or has equivalent education or experience.Must know and practice universal precaution procedures in the performance of daily duties.Must use electronic data processing equipment in performing daily duties.Must be able to work with neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.
