Clinical Therapist – Full-Time Ellie Mental Health–Clarkston is an independently owned practice providing in-person and telehealth services throughout Michigan. Our furnished clinic and administrative support allow clinicians to focus on client care.

Compensation

This is a W-2 straight-commission position, not a salaried position. Clinicians earn a commission percentage of collected insurance and client payments for completed services, a common outpatient private-practice model. This compensation covers session preparation, client sessions, scheduling, documentation, and required practice meetings. Unlike a 1099 arrangement, the W-2 model includes employee benefits, employer-paid payroll taxes, and applicable employment protections.

Caseload Expectations

Building and maintaining a caseload is a shared responsibility. The practice provides marketing, online scheduling, administrative support, community relationships, and practice-generated referrals. Clinicians are also expected to:

• Maintain consistent availability and respond promptly to referrals

• Support client engagement and retention

• Communicate their specialties to referral partners

• Participate in approved outreach with physicians, schools, hospitals, and community organizations

• Identify opportunities to increase awareness of their services

Approved outreach and caseload-development activities are paid at $20 per hour when authorized in advance.

Full-time clinicians must average at least 25 direct client-facing hours per week and initially offer approximately 35 scheduling hours per week to support caseload growth and cancellations. At least one evening is required. Additional evening or weekend availability is valuable when serving children, adolescents, and families.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments and establish diagnoses within scope of practice

• Develop treatment plans and provide evidence-based psychotherapy

• Complete progress notes, treatment plans, risk documentation, and other records accurately and on time

• Maintain scheduling consistency and follow up after cancellations

• Participate in consultation, applicable supervision, staff meetings, and quality-improvement activities

• Communicate professionally with clients, families, colleagues, billing staff, referral partners, and community organizations

Required Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Michigan licensure as an LMFT, LMSW, or LPC

• Master’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution

• Experience with assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and clinical documentation

• Willingness to participate actively in caseload development and community outreach

• Strong communication, organization, dependability, professional boundaries, and follow-through

• Ability to serve diverse clients competently while remaining within scope of practice

• Proficiency with electronic health records and office technology; Valant experience is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Outpatient private-practice experience

• Community or professional referral relationships

• Outreach, presentation, marketing, or professional social-media experience

• Clinical supervision or mentoring experience

• Credentialing with commercial insurance, Medicaid, or EAP panels

• Specialized expertise responsive to community needs
