Instructional Assistant At Head Start (TEAC)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Instructional Assistant at Head Start (TEAC). The successful candidate will support the educational and developmental needs of young children in a nurturing and stimulating environment. This role involves working closely with lead teachers to facilitate learning activities, provide individualized support, and ensure a positive classroom experience for all students.

Responsibilities:

• Assist lead teachers in implementing lesson plans and educational activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development in young children.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping to reinforce learning concepts and skills.
• Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation, providing feedback to teachers to inform instructional practices.
• Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration and creativity.
• Assist with classroom management, ensuring that students adhere to behavior expectations and fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
• Support the preparation and organization of classroom materials and resources for daily activities.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a collaborative learning environment.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Help with the supervision of students during transitions, recess, and other non-instructional times.
• Uphold the values and mission of Head Start (TEAC) while promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in early childhood education or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from lead teachers.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and growth of young children.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
• Must pass background checks and comply with all health and safety regulations.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
