Special Education Teacher in Newark, NJ

Job Description

A rewarding opportunity awaits for an experienced Special Education Teacher to support a kindergarten autism classroom on a contract basis near Newark, NJ. In this role, you’ll guide a small classroom of six kindergarten students with support from two paraprofessionals, focusing on nurturing each child's unique strengths and fostering their growth in a supportive environment.

Qualifications:

Valid Special Education teaching certification
Previous experience working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, preferably at the kindergarten or early elementary level
Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
Patience, empathy, and commitment to individualized instruction
Excellent communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with paraprofessionals and other school staff

Responsibilities:

Deliver tailored instruction to meet the diverse needs of six students on the autism spectrum
Work closely with two paraprofessionals to maintain a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment
Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals in collaboration with related service providers and families
Employ evidence-based strategies to support student learning, social skills, and emotional regulation
Document student progress and adapt teaching methods as needed
Maintain open communication with parents and participate in team meetings as required

The position offers consistent hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, allowing you to enjoy a structured routine and opportunities for positive impact each day.
