Position Overview Serves as a unit‑based resource that supports the RN Nurse Manager in the patient care operations for a designated area(s) on a 24‑hour basis; plans and develops tactical short, mid‑ and long‑term goals and processes to enhance and improve the operations of the unit; identifies barriers to meeting goals; manages, guides, coaches, and evaluates the work performance of patient care staff; collaborates with other patient care departments; assists with unit budget plans; calculates return on investment for unit initiatives; participates in evidence‑based standards of practice development; identifies opportunities for improvement in patient care and organizational processes. Formal Education Required Graduate of a program of professional nursing accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) BSN required Master’s degree preferred Clinical Certification preferred or required to obtain within two (2) years Current license to practice nursing in the State of Ohio Experience & Training Required Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience and demonstrated leadership qualities Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications Effective performance of this role requires core competencies in customer focus, teamwork, job knowledge, and resource management. Provides quality service to patients, families, staff, and the community. Works effectively as a team member to achieve organizational and departmental goals. Supports the use of available resources, including time, people, materials, and financial resources. Promotes the nursing professional practice model and maintains standards that promote patient safety. Provides care based on evidence‑based and process improvement methodology grounded in nursing theory. Interacts with patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self‑respect and dignity. Retains professional certification in nursing administration or a clinical area. Meets mandatory educational and health requirements. Maintains and seeks new knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement, cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols. Demonstrates computer skills required to perform job functions. Physical Demands Heavy: Exerts 50‑100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25‑50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10‑20 pounds of force continuously to move objects. The salary range on this posting is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location, are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. The range listed is the full base salary range; hiring at the maximum is uncommon.
