Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic – FAA Part 145 Repair Station (Component Shop)

Position Summary

The Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic performs inspection, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, testing, and return-to-service of aircraft components in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer's maintenance manuals, approved technical data, and Repair Station quality procedures. The mechanic ensures all work complies with FAA Part 145 requirements while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and test aircraft components.
• Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, assemble, and function test mechanical components.
• Interpret maintenance manuals, Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC), Service Bulletins (SB), Airworthiness Directives (AD), engineering drawings, and approved repair data.
• Use precision measuring instruments and specialized tooling to verify component serviceability.
• Identify worn or damaged parts and determine appropriate repair or replacement actions.
• Complete all maintenance documentation accurately and legibly in accordance with FAA Part 43 and Part 145 requirements.
• Ensure traceability of all parts and materials used during maintenance.
• Perform final inspections and operational testing as required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow Repair Station Quality Control procedures and company policies.
• Assist with continuous process improvement and support corrective actions when required.
• Participate in recurrent training and maintain technical proficiency.

Required Qualifications

• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces as required.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station.
• Experience with aircraft component overhaul and repair.
• Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, flight control, landing gear, or engine accessories.
• Knowledge of FAA Parts 43, 65, 91, and 145.
• Experience using computerized maintenance tracking systems.

Working Conditions

• Overtime and weekend work may be required based on operational needs.

Employees must comply with all applicable FAA regulations, company procedures, Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), and all applicable manufacturer maintenance instructions. Work must be performed in accordance with approved technical data and documented in compliance with FAA regulations.
