Position Details: Full-time, exempt
Salary Range: $130,000 - $155,000 depending on experience

  Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Arc Flash and Power Systems Studies team, providing technical direction, project oversight, and day-to-day support to engineers and technical staff.
  • Manage and coordinate electrical power system studies using SKM and/or ETAP, including short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, arc flash hazard analyses, and load flow studies.
  • Perform hands-on engineering work alongside the team as needed, including power system modeling, field data collection, equipment assessments, and technical analysis.
  • Review and validate engineering calculations, electrical models, study results, and technical reports to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Interpret study results and guide the development of practical recommendations to improve electrical system safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and deliverables to support project quality, budgets, timelines, and client expectations.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and technical staff by providing technical guidance, reviewing work, sharing knowledge, and supporting professional growth.
  • Evaluate existing electrical distribution systems and recommend system upgrades, equipment replacements, and other improvements.
  • Oversee the analysis and evaluation of electrical power distribution systems for commercial, industrial, utility, and government facilities.
  • Guide the development of electrical calculations, one-line diagrams, construction documents, and technical specifications using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, as applicable.
  • Ensure engineering work aligns with applicable codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and other relevant industry requirements.
  • Conduct and oversee site visits, field investigations, equipment assessments, and data collection to support engineering studies and design.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, utilities, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and maintain successful project execution.
  • Provide engineering oversight and hands-on support during construction, commissioning, startup, equipment testing, and troubleshooting activities as needed.
  • Support client relationships, technical discussions, proposal development, and business development efforts related to power systems studies and electrical engineering services.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining accurate documentation and consistent engineering quality.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across the team.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, power system studies, electrical system analysis, commissioning, electrical testing, or related technical work, with substantial hands-on experience in power systems studies.
  • Experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or managing engineers and technical staff, with the ability to provide technical direction and support team development.
  • Demonstrated experience performing and overseeing electrical power system studies, including arc flash hazard analyses, short-circuit studies, and protective device coordination studies. Load flow studies experience is preferred.
  • Hands-on proficiency with SKM and/or ETAP for electrical system modeling, analysis, and power system studies.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems, protective devices, equipment ratings, fault currents, and power system fundamentals.
  • Experience interpreting electrical one-line diagrams, equipment documentation, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Experience collecting, reviewing, and validating electrical system data through field investigations, equipment assessments, drawings, and client documentation.
  • Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to prepare and review engineering reports, study documentation, calculations, and technical recommendations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work directly with clients, mentor team members, coordinate with project managers, and collaborate across disciplines.
  • Willingness to participate in site visits and fieldwork, including working alongside the team during data collection, equipment assessments, testing, and troubleshooting as project needs require.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and support multiple projects in a consulting engineering environment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or ability and willingness to pursue licensure, depending on applicable experience and role requirements.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, military experience, and relevant industry experience will be considered.
