Truck Driver -- CDL Class ANo Overnight Travel RequiredCooksey Steel & Iron is seeking CDL Class A Truck Drivers out of Tifton, GA. Cooksey Steel is a solid, growth oriented, carbon-steel (plate, beam, tube) distribution center servicing the commercial, construction, and fabrication industries.ResponsibilitiesDrives a 40 foot flatbed truck to transport and deliver materialsManeuvers trucks into loading and unloading positions.Operates company vehicle in a professional, safe and courteous manner and complies with all local, state and federal traffic regulations.Secures loaded cargo into truck; safely load & unload materials using a winch, hoist and/or forklift.Immobilizes or secures cargo on or within a vehicle by the use of tie-downs, chains, benders or straps.Tarps and straps all loads before transport and untarps and unstraps all loads at delivery locations.Inspects and maintains vehicle daily, complete driver's logs and reports in compliance with FMCSR daily.Picks up and accurately delivers merchandise and corresponding paperwork in a timely manner.Ensures customer messages/communications are relayed to appropriate management.Delivers paperwork and communications between Metals USA locations, customers and vendors.Notifies management of product discrepancies or malfunctions, and or personal injuries.Adheres to all company policies and procedures.Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a CDL Truck Driver.Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.Keeps a clean and well maintained delivery vehicle, internal and external.Performs other related duties as assignedCertifications/Licenses:Valid CDL Class A driver's license -- in good standing with the State and Federal Regulatory AgenciesValid OSHA Forklift CertificationPhysical Demands:Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)Ability to sit constantlyStand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend, grasp and manipulate controlsArm and hand steadinessVisual acuity (near and far vision) for vehicle navigationLift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistanceMust use 3 points of contact when entering and exiting the cab of truckMust use 3 points of contact when going up and down the flatbed of truckOther Physical Requirements:Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)If required, must wear corrective lenses, in accordance with DOT physicalSteel-toed bootsHard hats with the appropriate chin straps' chin straps must be worn at all times in the warehouse.Protective eyewearHand protection -- glovesHearing protection if required by the hearing conservation programWork Environment:May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.Drive an enclosed truck on a daily basisWork outdoors while loading and unloadingWork indoors while driving in cab or filling out paperworkExposure to all environmental weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, precipitation and snowExposure to contaminants, such as diesel fuel or exhaust fumesExposure to road hazards while drivingModerate to loud noise levelsFull body vibration when driving a truckOils, dust, fumes and metallic particlesExposure to bright or dim lighting conditions: dawn or dusk, day or nightHigh School Graduate or EquivalentCDL Class A License -- current and in good standingMust have heavy hauling experience; 3-5 years driving experience transporting heavy industrial loadsMust be able to pass a DOT physical & random screen in accordance with FMCS regulationsCooksey Steel & Iron offers a competitive hourly rate and benefits plus upward mobility professional growth.Cooksey Steel & Iron is committed to protecting our employees by creating and maintaining a workplace free of substance abuse."Cooksey Steel & Iron provides equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability."
