Equipment Technician
Service Department positions are responsible for providing service, debugging, troubleshooting, and training to NLB customers. Positions require extensive knowledge of NLB equipment and a strong customer service attitude. The Service Department's ultimate goal is to provide NLB and its customers with world-class service.

We are looking for an Equipment Technician to join our growing operation at our Wixom, Michigan location. The yearly range indicated is representative of the hourly rate, including typical overtime. This range is based on a technician's experience, skills, education, and training. For technicians, overtime is typically calculated on a daily basis after 8 hours worked.
The person in this role will be responsible for servicing and repairing NLB rental equipment in the shop and in the field. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on all components of our rental equipment and accessories. You will read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical and electrical schematics, and other specifications to determine the repair method on failed components. You will replace or repair defective components, using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment. You will troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment using hand or power tools. You will rebuild, install, and align pump assemblies utilizing safe rigging methods using hand or power tools. You will create, track, and formalize work order documents on a timely basis. You will have the ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will promote positive customer service for our NLB Louisiana location according to NLB expectations.

Most important qualifications required:
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- High School Diploma or (GED) equivalent
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Basic understanding of hand tools
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Must own required tool inventory (specifics discussed during interviews)
- Strong customer service skills, mechanical aptitude, professional demeanor, and always "safety-first" mentality every hour of every day
Shift schedule: Monday - Friday 7am - 5pm; may require working hours outside standard work schedule (specifics discussed during interviews)
Work environment: Requires physical movement, lifting, squatting, bending, climbing, and working with mechanical rotating parts in the Louisiana climate.
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to occasionally lift 75 pounds from floor to chest. The employee must have the ability to endure prolonged stooping, kneeling, crouching and squatting while performing mechanical operations. The employee must be able to exert push/pull forces with the arms in order to use various wrenches and tools. The employee must be able to endure prolonged forward and overhead arm positions while performing mechanical operations. The employee must be able to use the hands to grasp hand tools and parts. The employee must have the ability to climb onto and operate equipment. The employee must have the ability to operate and maintain a field service vehicle with GVW of less than 26,000 lbs. Employee regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts. May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity. The noise level may be loud at times. Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment. Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, with occasional loudness when equipment is running. We require strict compliance with PPE (personal protective equipment) safety regulations. We maintain compliance with all Federal, State and Local safety and company regulations. All employees must follow all Company Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) procedures.
