About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP Must-Have: - Experience in Labor and Delivery - Ability to titrate drips - Strong communication skills - Knowledge and independence Description: Unit has 4 Labor and Delivery beds and 7 postpartum beds. Staff follows recommended guidelines for patient ratios. Labor ratios are 1:1-2, and postpartum ratios are 1:2-3. Common patients include those greater than 35 weeks in labor and Mom/Baby couplets. RNs are required to titrate drips including, but not limited to, Magnesium, Oxytocin, and Zofran. Charge nurses are present on each shift and do take patient assignments. RNs are responsible for troubleshooting equipment such as neonatal vents and CPAP. Charting system used is MEDITECH. Floating to other departments for assistance may be required. Scrubs are provided for staff. Attributes that contribute to success in this unit include teamwork, provider consistency, effective communication, and independence. Surgery team handles C-sections while circulating RNs manage care for newborns. Limited services are available, and the nearest NICU is over an hour away. Candidates must adhere to a radius rule of 50 miles. Initial request for time off must be submitted upfront and is limited to 7 days or less per contract. Additional time off requests will not be approved after submission. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment.
