Tax Manager - Public Accounting Join an established, growth-oriented CPA firm in Wakefield, MA where a $135,000-$165,000 base salary, high-impact client advisory, and a culture that actively invests in its team await an experienced tax leader. What you’ll do Plan, supervise, and schedule complex tax engagements from start to finish, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery. Perform detailed technical reviews of complex returns, workpapers, and research memos across a diverse client portfolio ranging from closely held businesses to public corporations. Own key client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor while driving client retention and expansion. Manage engagement economics, including billing, budgeting, and production goals. Mentor and develop staff and senior associates through real-time feedback and technical leadership. Identify and pursue business development opportunities, contributing to consulting and specialized project work. Enforce firm-wide quality control policies and professional standards across all deliverables. What you need 10+ years of public accounting experience with a strong tax focus. Active CPA license. Bachelor's degree in Accounting (BSBA) or equivalent. Hands-on proficiency with CCH ProSystem fx Tax and Microsoft Office. Demonstrated track record of managing a client portfolio, budgets, billing, and deadlines across multiple simultaneous engagements. Nice to have Client advisory or write-up experience using QuickBooks. Experience serving publicly held or complex multi-entity corporate clients. Proven track record in practice development or niche advisory leadership. Strong written communication skills for client memos and technical reports.
