Salary $6,154.00 - $7,719.00 per Month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of an alternate range when applicable. The incumbent may be required to travel 10% throughout California as needed, with prior notice. Regular and consistent attendance is critical to successful performance due to the heavy workload and time‑sensitive nature of the work. Eligible for Safety Retirement - requires ongoing responsibility (at least 51% of time) toward the protection and safeguarding of public and property and continued activities that provide regular and substantial contact with incarcerated individuals. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Hospital Police Sergeant, the Hospital Police Officer will ensure that each cadet receives the best training and instruction available at the Department of State Hospitals (DSH) Police Academy, maintain a secure and safe operation for the welfare of all who utilize the Academy, and perform other related duties as required. Telework will be based on business need. This is a peace officer position requiring successful completion of a background investigation, psychological, medical and PAT and PC832 clearance prior to appointment.
