Hawaiian Cultural and Community Lead Advisor Professional Admin - Bachelot, Honolulu, HI, US 10 days ago Requisition ID: 1030 Salary Range: $31.35 To $32.36 Hourly Part Time - 20-30 hours per week Primary Purpose Serve as PIDF’s principal advisor on Hawaiian culture, values, language, and protocol. The position works closely with the President & CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, managers, staff, and community partners to ensure that Native Hawaiian knowledge, relationships, and cultural practices are thoughtfully integrated throughout the organization. The role advances PIDF’s mission by strengthening organizational culture, leadership development, community engagement, strategic partnerships, and culturally grounded decision-making. Organizational culture & leadership Support integration of PIDF’s organizational values of aloha, lōkahi, mālama, pono, and poʻokela; Help strengthen organizational practices rooted in hoʻopau, hilinaʻi, pilina, and kuleana; Provide coaching and consultation to managers and leadership regarding culturally grounded leadership practices; Assist with restorative approaches to workplace conflict, relationship building, and organizational cohesion where appropriate. Hawaiian Language & Cultural Protocol Advise the organization regarding ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, translations, pronunciation, naming conventions, organizational messaging; Coordinate cultural protocol for blessings, dedications, hoʻokupu, hoʻokipa, significant organizational events, and recognition ceremonies; Maintain relationships with respected cultural practitioners and kūpuna throughout Hawaiʻi. Community Engagement & Strategic Partnerships Represent PIDF within Native Hawaiian communities; Develop and maintain relationships with cultural practitioners, kūpuna, community leaders, educational institutions, Native Hawaiian organizations, partner agencies; Advise leadership regarding opportunities to strengthen community trust and collaboration; Support culturally appropriate engagement with funders, policymakers, and community stakeholders. Program Consultation Consult with program leadership regarding opportunities to strengthen cultural integration across services; Assist with the development and review of curriculum, materials, and initiatives through a cultural lens; Develop and recommend culturally grounded approaches to program design, implementation, and evaluation. Staff Learning & Professional Development Develop an annual organizational cultural learning plan. Coordinate professional development related to Hawaiian values, ʻike Hawaiʻi, Hawaiian history, protocol, cultural humility, and relationship-centered leadership Support onboarding of new employees by introducing PIDF’s cultural foundation and organizational values. Organizational Representation Represent PIDF at community meetings, conferences, ceremonies, and public events as requested; Serve as a cultural ambassador for the organization. Other Duties Other duties as assigned. Work Hours Part-time, 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or as otherwise determined by the supervisor; Position requires regular and predictable attendance; Some events on evenings or weekends at various times. Working Conditions Office and home setting that includes a designated area that is free from distractions and conducive for telework arrangement; Travel in personal vehicle to and from program and meeting sites; Travel to the neighbor islands is required; Travel to the U.S. continent may be required. Equipment Use Personal vehicle, computer and/or laptop, printer, scanner, copier, fax machine, office and/or work cell phone/Bluetooth. Mental, Physical, and Communication Demands Mental: Consistent adherence to the practice of PIDF’s five core values that are used as a guiding force in the success of all of its programs; Be keenly aware of and attentive to staff and program participants; Must analyze and problem solve issues; Must be able to multi-task and prioritize; Must possess strong interpersonal skills; Must be able to cope with stress that may be induced by the situations of our clients; Actively demonstrate a commitment to support equity and inclusion, and serve as an advocate for colleagues, partners, and communities; Ensure work is thoughtfully completed, accurate, and error-free to the highest degree possible; Take responsibility and ownership for successfully accomplishing work and the organization’s objectives and delivering results. Set high standards of shared performance for self and others. Physical: Requires lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds occasionally; Must be able to sit at desk and meetings for the majority of the day. Communication: Must exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program participants, staff and administration via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence; Requires good oral and written communication skills in English and Hawaiian; Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Bachelor’s Degree in Hawaiian Studies, Hawaiian language or related field and at least five(5) years of experience in formal or informal instruction involving Hawaiian learner and Hawaiian community; Demonstrated expertise in Native Hawaiian culture, history, values, and traditions; Strong facilitation and presentation skills; Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities; Ability to advise executive leadership; Working knowledge of personal computer software applications such as Word and Excel; Must have access to a vehicle, have a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record, and current no-fault auto insurance, with at least $100K in bodily collision per person and $25K in property damage liability. Preferred Experience in nonprofit leadership; Experience facilitating organizational learning; Knowledge of Hawaiian education, family strengthening, community development, and public policy; Experience working with Boards of Directors and executive leadership. #J-18808-Ljbffr Partners In Development
