CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift

Job Title: CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift (2:00pm - 12:30am - Monday - Thursday)
Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour (Based upon relevant experience)

Position Overview:
Our CNC Set Up Operators play an important role in the execution of this strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Carry out CNC lathe setup activities, including advanced and highly complex configurations, to support both personal and team machining operations.
• Prepare and run machines following process documentation such as setup sheets, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Develop, modify, and access CNC programs from system databases, then execute them as required.
• Utilize company documentation (e.g., blueprints, setup instructions, control plans) to produce parts that meet established quality standards.
• Perform in-process inspections and confirm part accuracy before submitting for final inspection; follow proper procedures for handling non-conforming materials when necessary.
• Adhere to production timelines and schedules, and promptly notify supervisors of any issues or delays.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous improvement by evaluating processes and recommending or implementing efficiency enhancements.
• Accurately complete required documentation, including production records and quality logs, in accordance with process control procedures.
• Perform additional shop tasks as needed, including operating manual equipment, conducting hand-finishing work, performing inspections, and executing saw-cutting operations.
• Apply offsets, tool compensation, and conditional logic within CNC programs; perform necessary calculations using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; and validate program accuracy.
• Ensure machining operations meet specifications by monitoring drilling, grooving, turning, facing, knurling, and threading processes; take precise measurements and identify potential issues.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment in compliance with safety standards.
• Support smooth shift transitions by documenting activities, communicating issues, and outlining ongoing work requirements.

Requirements:

• 5+ years' experience CNC lathe set-ups. Only those who are highly experienced in complex lathe set ups should apply.
• Ability to read & understand blueprints and technical documents commensurate with machine operation.
• Ability to use various inspection gages.
  Firm understanding of G-code CNC programs including formatting and editing.
• Experience in use of Haas and swiss type CNC equipment a plus. Ability to learn new techniques and be cross-trained in other roles
• High school diploma or GED
• Fork-lift certification a plus
