What You'll Do: Machine Operation & Setup Operate 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture complex aerospace components with tight tolerances Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, offsets, and workholding Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs to ensure accuracy and efficiency Monitor machining operations and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and performance Production & Quality Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and work instructions Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) Ensure all components meet aerospace tolerances and quality standards Identify and document non-conforming parts in accordance with quality procedures Process Control & Troubleshooting Diagnose and resolve machining issues such as tool wear, chatter, and offset discrepancies Optimize feeds, speeds, and tool paths to improve efficiency and part quality Support continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements Maintenance & Safety Conduct routine preventative maintenance (coolant checks, lubrication, cleaning) Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Adhere to all OSHA, company safety policies, and aerospace compliance standards Collaboration & Documentation Partner with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues Accurately complete job travelers, ERP entries, and production documentation Assist in training and mentoring junior team members as needed What you bring: High school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred) 2–5+ years of experience operating 5-axis CNC machines in a manufacturing environment Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) Ability to independently perform machine setups Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy Preferred Qualifications Experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environments Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam) and G-code programming Experience machining aluminum, composites, or aerospace alloys Knowledge of process optimization and continuous improvement practices Physical Requirements & Work Environment: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to use hands and fingers to perform repetitive and precision tasks. Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as required to perform job duties. Ability to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing. Ability to work in, on, around, and in proximity to large structures, equipment, and tooling. Ability to lift, push, and/or carry items up to 40 pounds as required. Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment. Ability to work in and around tight or confined spaces. Ability to work in environments that may include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and/or hazardous materials (e.g., carbon fiber).
