Department: Engineering Reports To: Manager/Supervisor FLSA Status: Hourly SUMMARY Mission Statement: To maximize satisfaction, desirability, value and distinction of Membership in Ocean Reef Club by providing unsurpassed value, excellence and quality in all services and facilities.Ensure an attractive, well-maintained club, and the ultimate in member and guest satisfaction at all times by maintaining the guestrooms, public space and back of house areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including, but not limited to: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall coverings and masonry. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Complete assigned work timely, delivering a consistently quality finish to all painted surfaces keeping all surrounding surfaces and fixtures free of paint. Perform repairs on wood, sheetrock and concrete surfaces to a seamless, smooth finish. Keep area of work and assigned equipment clean and organized at all times. Inspect guestrooms, public space and back of the house areas to repair or replace light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, exit lights, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall covering, caulking, grouting or other miscellaneous repairs. To perform these duties the individual will be required to visually inspect and detect items needing repair and requires considerable knowledge of a wide variety of maintenance trades. Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical experience are used frequently on the job. To perform these duties the individual will be required to have experience in using basic hand and power tools and ability to stoop, kneel, grasp, lift, push and pull weights up to 80 pounds, climb ladders up to 30 feet high and reach in all directions, often times overhead. Maintain a clean environment by picking up and removing debris on property. Electrical rooms throughout facilities must stay clean and locked at all times, reporting and repairing any and all safety conditions. This position will require a combination of these functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the club.
- Have considerable knowledge of paint, varnish, stain, enamels, lacquers, wall coverings, masonry work and other related products and mixing procedures of such products.
- Wash, scrape, sand, and/or smooth surfaces prior to painting, varnishing, lacquering, or applying other related materials using proper application and techniques.
- Apply protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish, lacquer, and/or other related materials to interior and exterior of buildings, furniture, equipment, and other structures.
- Install, repair, and maintain drywall, wall texturing, and ceiling acoustic texturing.
- Apply paint, stain, surface preparatory materials, and undercoating materials to a variety of surfaces as appropriate and according to Materials Safety Data Sheets, ensuring compliance with hazardous materials guidelines.
- Maintain existing paint surfaces through matching and tinting of appropriate paint products.
- Identify colors and patterns, measure lengths and quantities, and assess areas for repair.
- Plaster or spackle surfaces, apply paint to all building and equipment surfaces with brushes, rollers and spray guns.
- Install and repair covered wall and ceiling surfaces throughout the club.
- Hang vinyl, paper, fabric, and foil wall coverings of various weights.
- Maintain and repair caulked, grouted and masonry surfaces throughout the club.
- Caulk, grout, plaster, and set tiles, cider block/brick and cement work.
- Prepare and maintain wood surfaces using stain, varnish, and lacquer. Apply alcohol or water stains and develop a finished product from unstained wood and existing finished wood.
- Be skilled in the use of related tools including brushes, rollers, sprayers, scrapers, sand paper, lifts, and other basic hand tools.
- Have considerable knowledge of OSHA standards and application for working with chemicals.
- Grasp, lift and/or carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 80 lbs.
- Work in confined areas.
- Work and reach in all directions including overhead for extended periods.
- Work on scaffolding.
- Visually identify and locate existing problems.

- Maintain regular attendance; schedule time off in advance, do not take unscheduled time off due to calling outs, arriving late, and leaving early.
- Present a clean, neat, and tasteful appearance; adhere to the Personal Appearance Policy in the Ocean Reef Club Associate Handbook.
- Display creativity, loyalty, dependability, and good judgment.
- Keep detailed records in English as required for daily logs, work orders, billing, and preventive maintenance logs.
- Have knowledge of general safe working practices.
- Report major repairs, items which cannot be repaired, and potential problems to the supervisor for further action.
- Resolve a number of problems requiring initiative and good judgment.
- Have basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of club equipment.
- Be skilled in the use of related tools, including both hand and electric tools.
- Drive Ocean Reef Club vehicles in a safe manner according to the Ocean Reef Club Associate Handbook.
- Maintain assigned vehicle, equipment, and tools for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
- Transport a variety of tools, equipment, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
- Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping and kneeling.
- Push and pull objects or material weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Climb stairs and ladders, working at heights up to approximately 30 feet for extended periods of time, with ability to reach, often overhead.
- Grasp, lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally waist high.
- Move and work throughout the club for the duration of the shift.
- Work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the club (up to and including first, second, third or a combination of shifts and days) due to the cyclical nature of club business.
- Perform other duties and special projects assigned by supervisors, such as assisting other trades, due to the nature of the business.
LANGUAGE Must be able to comprehend the English language and demonstrate the ability to express and exchange ideas through oral and written communication and convey detailed and/or important instructions accurately, loudly and/or quickly. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Basic arithmetic skills are required. REASONING ABILITY Must be able to set priorities and possess the ability to meet deadlines and exercise initiative within department guidelines. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Trade school, certificates of achievement, or trade association memberships and affiliations will be helpful but are not required. A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job. ATTENDANCE, APPEARANCE AND CONDUCT Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Ocean Reef Club from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, associate may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of the Club and report deadlines. Proper grooming is required by all associates and is described in detail in the Associates Handbook. Associates should review this policy and make sure that at all times they present themselves for shifts looking clean, neat and professional.
As a condition of employment, all associates agree to fully comply with Ocean Reef Club rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of Club facilities. Associates who violate Club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
