Court Liaison

Salary: $109,000 - 149,000 per year Requirements:

  • We require a masters degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related discipline, along with an active Mississippi license or certification to practice counseling.
  • We strongly prefer prior experience in a mental health setting.
  • We strongly prefer the ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • We prefer visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess client and staff needs.
  • We prefer fine motor skills for producing clear, accurate reports, schedules, correspondence, and presentations.
  • We require effective time management skills.
  • We require a valid Mississippi drivers license, a personal vehicle, liability insurance, and an insurable driving record.
  • We require an acceptable criminal background check.
  • We require satisfactory CPR completion before starting work.
  • We require satisfactory CPI completion within 30 days of hire.
  • We require annual training completed in line with DMH standards.
  • We require extensive travel throughout the region.
Responsibilities:
  • We conduct all pre-evaluation screenings for Lafayette County, support other counties as needed, and attend civil commitment initial hearings.
  • We serve as a liaison between the Chancery courts and Communicare.
  • We complete intake assessments and support care coordination for individuals whose needs can be addressed through outpatient services.
  • We keep agency staff informed about court and hearing dates.
  • We complete the training needed to become a Certified Pre-Evaluation Commitment Screener through the Mississippi Department of Mental Health.
  • We use DSM-5 criteria to evaluate client symptoms.
  • We build strong rapport and therapeutic relationships with clients and caregivers while respecting cultural, ethnic, religious, and belief differences.
  • We ensure compliance with CLAS standards in health and health care and demonstrate motivational leadership, teamwork, conflict resolution, and strengths-based management.
  • We conduct outreach and engagement to connect individuals with the program and related community resources.
  • We provide clinical therapeutic targeted case management and other clinical services when needed.
  • We become familiar with intensive outpatient treatment modalities.
  • We collect data and support reporting requirements for the Department of Mental Health.
  • We collaborate with other agencies and supports on behalf of assigned individuals and their families.
  • As part of a multidisciplinary team, we monitor treatment participation and progress, support service delivery aligned with treatment plans, and provide referrals when helpful.
  • We accompany individuals to appointments when necessary, including travel throughout Region 2.
  • We attend Chancery court hearings to discuss client treatment progress with the judge.
  • We participate in the AMAP Team and other advisory councils as appropriate.
  • We take part in all required training, consultation, and evaluation processes for the project and the Department of Mental Health.
  • We complete all required documentation, progress monitoring, grant-related evaluations, and requested reports in a timely manner.
  • We maintain positive working relationships with coworkers to support a respectful workplace.
  • We protect client confidentiality at all times.
  • We perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

We offer flexible hours as needed, with primary working hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, including a one-hour lunch break. This role involves extensive travel throughout the region and works closely with courts, the Department of Mental Health, other agencies, and a multidisciplinary team to support individuals receiving outpatient and intensive services.
