We are immediately seeking dedicated and skilled Freight Handlers to join our team for a 6 to 8 week project. In this role, you will be responsible for handling and processing freight within a distribution facility. This includes tasks like receiving, sorting, and preparing freight for shipment to stores. They ensure freight is handled safely, accurately, and efficiently, while also maintaining quality and addressing any exceptions.


Shifts are: Tuesday to Friday 5:00am to 3:30pm

• Receive incoming freight, unload it from trucks, and sort it based on destination or other criteria.
• This involves tasks like scanning, labeling, and preparing freight for shipment, including order filling.
• Ensure the freight is properly packaged, labeled, and undamaged before it leaves the facility.
• Use equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks to move and manage freight within the facility.
• The job can be physically demanding, requiring lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods
• Accuracy is crucial when handling freight, ensuring proper labeling, sorting, and damage prevention
• Operate forklifts, clamp trucks, and cherry pickers to move freight within the warehouse.
• Load and unload materials from trucks and containers, ensuring proper handling techniques are followed.
• Build pallets and prepare shipments for distribution while adhering to safety protocols.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance with OSHA standards.
• Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
• Assist in inventory management by tracking materials and reporting discrepancies as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED preferred
• Experience working in a distribution center/warehouse is preferred but not required
• Comfortable with basic math
• Physically capable of lifting up to at least 50lbs as needed
• Must have attention to detail & the ability to read/write English
• Willingness to assist in other departments as needed
• Valid driver license & reliable transportation is a MUST
• Proven experience in materials handling or warehouse operations is preferred.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to warehouse safety is essential.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate heavy equipment safely.
• Experience with clamp trucks, forklifts, cherry pickers, or similar machinery is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour + benefits
