Director of Accounting

Responsibilities Kforce is partnering with a Saint Louis-area client to identify a Director of Accounting to oversee key accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and budgeting functions. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting leader with a background in real estate or complex accounting environments, strong financial reporting expertise, and experience working with government-funded or regulated programs. Key Responsibilities: Oversee monthly and quarterly financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory and program requirements, including affordable housing guidelines Lead the accounting team and oversee AP, AR, general ledger, cash flow, and related accounting operations Manage annual financial and compliance audits, tax reporting, and required documentation Oversee cost allocations, construction draws, capitalization, and project-related accounting activities Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and overall efficiency Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support planning and risk management Mentor and develop accounting staff while collaborating cross-functionally to improve financial accuracy and processes Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred 10+ years of accounting experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role Experience with accounting systems such as Yardi, MRI, or Sage and advanced Excel skills Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
