Social Worker

Responsibilities: Provide Trauma-informed crisis intervention and criminal justice advocacy to victims of human trafficking and other victims of crime. In collaboration with agency staff, assess the urgency of victims' needs and seek immediate assistance for issues affecting victims' safety. Maintain contact with victims throughout the duration of the criminal case and make efforts to link victims with appropriate services in the community. Provide case management. Conduct outreach and trainings related to working with human trafficking victims. Conduct on-scene/field interviews and needs assessments of victims after hours as necessary (weekends and after 5:00 p.m. weekdays). Maintain cultural sensitivity, discretion and integrity while working on highly confidential investigations. Perform other related duties. Preferred Skills Bilingual candidates preferred. Experience working with survivors/victims of human trafficking or victims of sexual assault. At least 3+ years of work experience in Social Work. Experience coordinating services for victims of human trafficking. Experience in educating members of other professional disciplines by developing training curricula and presenting lectures on social work and the intricacies of trauma among human trafficking victims. Knowledge of counseling interventions with trauma victims. Must be willing to work with children. Exceptional organizational, time‑management and multi‑tasking skills, including the ability to take initiative, prioritize duties, and work both independently and within a team environment. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively and across disciplines are necessary. Candidate(s) must have excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills. Additional Information A Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work. A valid Licensed Master of Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Please note: This position is grant‑funded. Hours / Shift Monday – Friday 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Minimum Qualifications A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above. Residency Requirement New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
