Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Experience in a Level 1 Trauma setting - Ability to pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance - Competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes - Basic nursing competencies Description: Candidates must have experience in a telemetry unit. The unit primarily serves patients with medical and surgical needs, including those with behavioral health components. Traveling staff must have their own vehicles. Natural hair color is required, and facial piercings are not permitted. Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing. All registered nurses are expected to complete skills assessments, which are pass/fail. Nurses must demonstrate competence in maintaining a sterile field during procedures. Training will cover lifts, restraints, and wound care though these areas are educational. Experience with psychiatric patients is preferred but not mandatory. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4. The unit has 14 beds. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Behavioral health technicians and security personnel monitor patients via video. The patient population includes individuals with medical needs and secondary psychiatric diagnoses. Common conditions include confusion and cognitive impairments. Physical restraints are used rarely, while chemical restraints are utilized as needed. Security continuously monitors the unit. The average length of patient stay is four days. The hospital may cancel up to four shifts for assignments lasting 13 weeks or fewer.
