The Position Are you a strategic safety and facilities leader ready to make an impact in a fast-paced biotech environment? We're seeking an experienced Director/Associate Director to join our SBX Technology team as the cornerstone of our site's operational resilience and compliance excellence. In this high-visibility role, you'll lead proactive risk management, oversee critical infrastructure, and drive continuous improvement across safety, facilities, and security—all while maintaining inspection readiness around the clock. If you have 8+ years in large-scale industrial environments, proven management expertise, and the drive to anticipate facility demands, we'd like to hear from you. The Opportunity Manages the SHE, Security, and Facilities maintenance to comply with applicable regulatory and company policies, utilizing industry best practices, and identifying and managing risk. Works with building management to maintain critical power systems and emergency generators. Serves as the primary internal lead for building power restoration and temporary generators, ensuring building management and external vendors to maintain 100% operational readiness during extended building outage. Works cross-functionally to develop and support facilities projects and implementing new technology processes including remodels, new equipment, and reagents, etc. Manages all moves, construction, upgrades, and maintenance for the site. Leads hazard identification - determining and implementing necessary risk assessment programs/processes – as well as related facilities changes. Responds to and investigates all SHE, Security and Facility issues. Supports post-incident analysis to determine mitigation strategies to reduce future incident frequency and impact. Leads, manages, and continuously improves all relevant safety processes in a large generator environment, including hazardous waste management, dangerous goods shipments, chemical safety assessments, spill safety, exposure monitoring, biosafety programs, etc. Identifies and manages risk and ensures compliance. Ensures the site complies with applicable regulatory and company policies and is always 'inspection ready'. May lead government and company interactions related to SHE, Security, and Facilities requirements including reporting, notification, facilitating inspections, and ensuring closure of corrective actions. Establishes monitoring solutions for critical facilities and lab equipment to enable after-hours monitoring and meaningful alerts. Prepares clear response plan documents for safety and facilities scenarios that can be executed by on-site personnel outside of standard business hours. Provides transparent documentation of site fail point areas. Who you are Education Bachelor or Master's degree in chemistry, safety, industrial hygiene, or other relevant field. Experience 8 years of progressive experience within a large scale industry such as technical manufacturing, diagnostics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas industry, or other relevant industries. 5+ years of management experience. Core Competencies Emergency Response & On-Call Availability: Demonstrated capability to respond effectively to critical safety, facilities, or security incidents (chemical spills, power outages, facility emergencies) with flexibility for after-hours and weekend availability as needed; track record of minimizing business disruption during safety events Self-Direction & Organization: Highly self-motivated professional with exceptional organizational skills; ability to prioritize effectively and manage competing demands with minimal supervision Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to facilitate alignment and collaboration across technical, operational, and executive teams in high-visibility, cross-functional roles; consistent track record of meeting deadlines and keeping complex projects on schedule Adaptive Learning & Continuous Improvement: Driven to rapidly acquire new skills and technical knowledge to support evolving projects; proactive mindset focused on identifying process gaps, eliminating unnecessary downtime, and anticipating emerging facility demands in fast-moving biotech environments Project & Priority Management: Ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent initiatives and objectives while maintaining quality and deadline adherence in dynamic, fast-paced environments Strategic Safety & Facilities Leadership: Deep understanding that safety, security, and facilities excellence transcend compliance requirements; demonstrated ability to champion process expertise, identify shortcomings, and anticipate risks before they elevate; commitment to continuous improvement that drives operational resilience This position is not eligible for relocation. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Washington is $104,100 - 193,300 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
