Lead Electrical Engineer

What You'll Be Doing: You will serve as the lead engineer for a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers, providing technical direction and overseeing the delivery of electrical projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards. You will act as a technical specialist for complex assignments, manage project controls, and ensure compliance with all relevant codes and client requirements. Responsibilities Review and approve all electrical deliverables and construction estimates. Validate professional service and construction estimates; monitor changes throughout the project lifecycle. Produce professional service estimates, and develop proposals for new work. Establish design criteria, incorporating client requirements, scope, and applicable state, local, and federal standards. Ensure permitting requirements are identified and communicated to the project team. Initiate change notices when deviations affect schedule, deliverables, or cost. Plan, organize, and communicate the work plan to the team, project leadership, and client. Maintain control of project budget, schedule, and quality using project control tools. Delegate work to engineers and designers based on technical skills; follow up to ensure progress and quality. Collaborate with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure timely progress and quality. Produce preliminary designs, material take‑offs, and cost studies. Generate detailed design calculations and sketches for construction materials. Prepare construction specifications and monitor drawings for conformance. Assist the drafting group in resolving layout and detailing issues. Review vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for electrical input. Prepare bid packages to support procurement of materials or subcontract pricing. Participate in training program planning and continuous education for staff. Identify and develop work‑sharing packages for inter‑office execution support. Lead the team to ensure communication and execution within scope, schedule, and budget. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required). Professional Engineering registration highly preferred. 15+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical engineering. Knowledge of the current National Electrical Code (NEC) and hazardous area classification (API RP500, NFPA497). Expertise in sizing wire, conduit, and overcurrent protection for lighting and power applications. Proficiency with voltage‑drop, short‑circuit, load‑flow, and motor‑starting studies using ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower. Ability to calculate tray and conduit fill, equipment sizing, and create specifications. Experience with emergency generators, busduct, MV/LV switchgear, MCCs, transformers, UPS systems, and power distribution centers. Familiarity with construction material installation details and bulk‑material specifications. Proficiency in producing 15kV single‑line diagrams, switchgear, and load‑break switch specifications. Strong estimation, scheduling, and cost‑budgeting skills for small to large projects. Skill in developing equipment specifications for motors, E‑GS, and load‑center substations. Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience leading virtual teams and building inter‑office relationships.
